Spare a thought for Spanish qualifier Cristina Bucsa who has just been demolished by world number one Iga Swiatek 6-0, 6-1.

The win came in under an hour on Margaret Court Arena as Swiatek tried to dish out the first double bagel in the women's singles since 2021 — when Ash Barty belted Macedonian Danka Kovinic in the opening round.

That match lasted just 44 minutes.

And Swiatek tried to say 'hold my beer' as the Pole made a statement but could not quite get it done as quickly nor as cleanly.

Her fans even yelled for her to "open the bakery" at one point, a reference to the double bagel score of 6-0, 6-0 that fell just out of reach.

Leading 6-0, 5-0 and with Bucsa serving, Swiatek made some uncharacteristic errors to give her opponent a solitary game.

But in reality it was over well before that, at the end of the opening set.

That was over in just 22 minutes as Swiatek allowed her opponent just 6 points to her 25.

Swiatek made less than half her first serves but only gave up one point on it in an opening set that saw her hit 7 winners to 1 and make 3 unforced errors to 10.

Both players took a break after the 22-minute set.

But the second set was more of the same as Swiatek improved on her own serve and ultimate rounded out the match in 54 minutes.
