A 32-year-old man has been charged after allegedly murdering his best friend’s wife during an argument earlier this year.

Erin Mullavey, 42, was found dead in her Merrylands unit in April after suffering multiple stab wounds.

Her husband Nic Gilbert was taken into custody but released and was not considered a suspect.

Following a months-long investigation into her death, police have now charged Gilbert’s best friend Morten Jensen with murder. Police said Mullavey and Jensen were also friends.

He will face Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday.

Police will allege in court that Jensen attacked Mullavey with a bladed instrument during the argument.

Jensen then allegedly fled on a black and red mountain bike and discarded the clothing he was wearing, including a grey hooded jumper with a distinctive logo on the back.
