In response, a spokesperson for Swift alleged that “two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water”.
McDonald said the spokesperson’s response was an “absolute fabrication”.
“It’s an absolute lie,” he said. “There was no other female there other than Taylor Swift. There was no aggressive behaviour. The aggressive behaviour was completely on their part. It’s an attempt to change the narrative.”
The pop star’s father, often affectionately referred to as “Papa Swift” by fans, has been to each of his daughter’s Australian Eras Tour shows.
His random acts of kindness have become a signature element of the tour. After Swift’s first Melbourne show, a fan publicly shared a story which explained how Papa Swift gave surprise access to the VIP section to one woman and her daughter who had “cheap, restricted seats”.
He reportedly offered similar tickets to several other Swifties with tickets to the nosebleed section before the shows. Some were even invited to watch part of the concert from the exclusive friends and family tent, such as YouTubers Emily Hunt and Bonny Rebecca. While watching the show alongside Papa Swift, he gave each of them a handwritten letter from Swift herself.
He also handed out free fruit and sandwiches at one of the Sydney shows last week, encouraging Swifties to help themselves as Midnight Rain began playing in the background.
