The Greater Fitzroy Delta is the guardian of the Great Barrier Reef. The Delta’s massive system of mangroves and wetlands is relatively untouched, filtering vast volumes of water on its way to the Reef.
It’s home to unique species including the Snubfin Dolphin, Flatback Turtle and thousands of migratory birds.
Until recently the Delta was under threat from one of the most damaging port expansion projects in Queensland’s history and could be again unless we take action to give it permanent protection.
We’ve made this short video to show the stunning natural beauty of the Greater Fitzroy Delta and explain how it works to protect the Great Barrier Reef.
Watch the video and then sign the petition at wwf.org.au/fitzroydelta asking our politicians to help the Reef by taking action that will protect the Delta forever.
