A man who allegedly led police on a dangerous pursuit across Brisbane in a stolen car before being apprehended by construction workers after attempting to flee the car on foot has been charged.
Video from the POLAIR police helicopter shows a dark Volkswagen Golf being driven at speeds of more than 100km/h along Musgrave Road through Coopers Plains, running several red lights before entering the Clem 7 tunnel.
Police said the car exited the tunnel at Bowen Hills and continued through Herson, at times on the wrong side of the road, before going over the William Jolly Bridge.
The driver eventually fled the car on foot after allegedly crashing into parked cars at the intersection of Logan Road and Deshon Street in Woollongabba, injuring a 52-year-old woman.
Another woman was allegedly assaulted as the man ran from the scene, chased by several bystanders.
Two construction workers eventually cornered the man on a nearby worksite where he was arrested by police.
A 21-year-old Murrarie man has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, burglary and fraud.
He’s expected to appear in court today.
Two women were transported to Princess Alexandra and Mater Hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said the car was one of two allegedly stolen from a home on Harcourt Street at New Farm on Monday.
