Construction of the 74 townhouse development featuring a resort-style recreation space on a 3.2ha parcel at 623 Albany Creek Road, Albany Creek, has commenced following 12 months of civil works.

LOCAL students have named a new $37 million townhouse development which is now under construction and set to provide extensive resort-style green space to its residents.

Sitting on 3.2 hectares of land, on what was the former Hawkins Garden Centre site, the 74 townhouse development has been officially named following 12 months of civil works.

Unison Projects’ sales and marketing co-ordinator Matt O’Driscoll said the estate is now called “Preston Point” following a competition involving Albany Creek State High School students who were invited to suggest a name and explain their inspiration.

“There were many entries with lots of brilliant ideas but the successful entry came from students Madalyn Martin, Kirra Young and Stephanie McBean,” Mr O’Driscoll said.

“Their inspiration came from the history of the parcel of land.

“It was originally purchased on 1 December 1865 by John Preston.

“The girls won $100 each from Unison Projects and were presented with a certificate by Moreton Bay Regional Council deputy mayor Mike Charlton.”

The architect designed homes offer 18 design varieties and numerous facades to choose from.

Townhouse layouts include two, three and four bedroom designs, all featuring 2.5 bathrooms and two car garage. Some four-bedroom options also feature a ground floor master bedroom with ensuite.

The Preston Point Residences offer a creekside urban retreat and will feature a 16 metre swimming pool with wrap around deck, barbecue area, fire pit, bocce court, communal vegetable garden and large lawn area with football posts.

“This will be a truly ‘green’ community on the banks of Albany Creek, with just two thirds of the 3.2 hectare site being developed to provide for extensive private green open space and retention of stately 100-year-old fig trees,” Mr O’Driscoll said.

“This is a rare blend of urban living and green space, just 14 kilometres from the Brisbane CBD and convenient to many local amenities and substantial infrastructure.”
