A man suffered multiple gunshot wounds in an incident in Sydney's west on Friday night.

Police were called to Bobart Street, Parramatta, about 11.10pm after several gun shots were heard.

Officers found several casings on the road, but no victims. 

A short time later, police were notified that a 20-year-old man had presented to Westmead Hospital with gunshot wounds.

He is in a stable condition. Investigations into the incident are continuing.
