The dreaded long weekend crawl back from the Sunshine Coast is living up to all expectations after a Bruce Highway crash north of Brisbane.
A car towing a caravan collided with another southbound vehicle just before 1pm at Burpengary, bringing already slow traffic to a crawl, according to police.

There were not believed to be any major injuries and police left the scene within half an hour but the delays remained.
Just after 2pm, government-run traffic website QLDTraffic said the accident had been cleared but delays remained.

At 2.30pm, the Bruce Highway was still choked most of the way from Station Road at Burpengary back to Glasshouse Mountains.
It warned of long delays heading back to Brisbane and urged motorists to be patient.
