“What was a fenced off, tired-looking space, will now be an attractive micro wetland complete with native sedges and rushes, providing habitat for birds, frogs, and other wildlife,” he said.

“Designed to mimic a natural wetland, the site will play an important role in cleaning stormwater as it flows through our city landscape.”

Mr Bull also said the project would provide a cooling effect to the area, which would contribute to the local catchment’s overall “climate change resilience.”

“In addition to environmental benefits, revitalisation projects like this one have been known to increase the value of surrounding properties. It’s great outcome all-round,” he said.

The project will be completed in partnership with the Water Corporation and the state government.
