"We're going to nominate and see how she is," Freedman said.

"I know that these colts from Sydney are very good going to the Coolmore but Villami sort of had form around Loving Gaby and she [Broadwayandfourth] hit the front yesterday and pricked her ears and the job was done for her.

"She didn't get out until the last furlong so I don't think that knocked her around too much.

"She literally licked the feed bin last night and it might be a good opportunity to tackle a good race."

The race might become even a touch easier if favourite Bivouac bypasses the $1.5 million race.

"Bivouac has come through great as expected for a horse that had a 1200-metre barrier trial," Cummings said.

"We'll monitor him every day and sit down to make a decision with the boys. If he runs, Hugh Bowman will ride and we'll find another jockey for Microphone."

Meanwhile, Southern Moon shapes as Freedman's best chance of winning his first group 1 following his second in the Geelong Classic to Long Jack.

"The favourites look like they're going to be pretty hard to beat, but I know one thing they might have question marks over, is mine's definitely going to get the 2500," Freedman said.

"He'll relax and conserve energy. He's still probably learning his craft a little bit, he's been learning it along the way and that's probably why we've kept him away from the really big three-year-old 2000-metre races and taken him along the path we have."

Southern Moon is an $11 Derby contender with Sportsbet, from Shadow Hero ($3), Soul Patch ($3.50), Thought Of That ($3.50) and Warning ($8).

He's yet to find a jockey for either of Southern Moon or Broadwayandfourth, hoping Ben Melham can cut his eight-meeting suspension by one on appeal.

Freedman said a decision wouldn't be made until this weekend at the earliest whether group 2 winner Moonlight Maid presses onto an Oaks.

In other news, Crystal Mile winner Chief Ironside looks set to back up into Saturday's group 1 Cantala Stakes with a $500,000 bonus up for grabs.

The top three placegetters in both the Crystal Mile and the Toorak Handicap are eligible for the bonus, with Fierce Impact ($6) and Night's Watch ($7) heading the market.
