Adam Scott is a major winner, a former world No.1 and a man blessed with the kind of golf swing that should be the subject of a love song. Yet there were times over the past three years, nine months and 16 days when he wondered if he'd ever win another tournament.
It seems a ludicrous notion, given the talent, class and the tools of the game with which he's been blessed. But going close and falling short can rattle the mental fortitude of even the best and, at 39, Scott occasionally considered if his window was starting to close.

That's why his victory at the Australian PGA Championship at Royal Pines on Sunday meant so much, not only because of the result now at hand but the promise and potential it may provide. He came to play on the Gold Coat and delivered, fending off a host of challengers for a two-shot win over New Zealand's Michael Hendry, who was outright second.
Scott finished the day at 13-under, carding a 69 to secure his 30th professional victory. It answers some of the questions he had been asking himself since he took out the WCG Cadillac Championship in March 2016.
