War medals, an ironing board, and a Halloween singing skeleton are just some of the items Brisbane residents have left behind in council facilities and on public transport over the past six months.
Hundreds of purses, wallets, and mobile phones have also been left behind by forgetful commuters on buses, in libraries, and other council places.

Community, arts and lifestyle committee chairman Peter Matic said the council kept items that had sentimental value or high financial value for up to two months, while other items were sent to charity within one month.
About 2000 items are currently held by the council waiting to be claimed or eventually donated.
