Gov. Andrew Cuomo says New York’s stay-at-home order will be extended to May 15, in his daily coronavirus update from Albany.

The stay-at-home order, called ‘New York on Pause’ extends to schools, all non-essential businesses and workers. The state’s social distancing guidelines – remaining home as much as possible and keeping at least six feet away from others – will remain in place to May 15 as well, Cuomo said. The state had been set to reopen at the end of April.

“We must stay the course,” Cuomo said.

Cuomo also reiterated his executive order, set to take effect on Friday, that directs all New Yorkers to wear a mask or cloth face covering when using public transit and in grocery stores and pharmacy.
