An abundance of flowers and candles transformed the often dreary interior of Crowbar in an attempt to make this seated event more intimate, although it was at odds with the overpacked stage. Regulated of screaming crowds, this was an opportunity for the band to share song origin stories, which gave a more personal experience.

Some of the reimagined songs worked better than their studio counterparts. Songs such as Ghost and Heartsleeve came with an unadulterated passion not heard on the album. Funeral Home, originally all sharp drum hits and cut-throat guitar work, was given a pensive facelift.
Undersize, a cheeky number decorated with sonic effects on the recorded version, was perhaps best suited to the stripped-back treatment, its original acoustic licks translating well to this toned-down environment.
Yours Truly are cautious chameleons, taking a minute to adapt to new surroundings but quickly running with what has stuck when they have thrown things at the wall.
They performed tracks from last year’s debut EP Afterglow with far better clarity, colour and confidence than the new material – which isn't to say they are better songs but to reiterate that Yours Truly have been missing the chance to hone its delivery.
They should be commended for the bravery and ambition of introducing a new body of material to a live audience after so long a break, and in such an unexpected format, but overall it does seem that practice will make perfect.
