The move was prompted by the alleged sexual assault of the 24-year-old woman by a man known to her.

After an "extensive amount of work" and a "meticulous amount of evidence had been captured", detectives executed a search warrant at a unit and vehicle and arrested a 24-year-old man in Campbelltown about 7.30am on Wednesday.

Detectives seized mobile phones and other electronic devices, which will undergo further examination.

The man was taken to Campbelltown Police Station where he was charged with 15 offences including common assault, sexual intercourse without consent and sexual intercourse with a person between 14 and 16 years.

"There are very few crimes more significant than sexual assault. The long standing impact, the long standing effects of this crime are absolutely significant to all who are victims of this crime," Detective Chief Inspector Haddow said.

"It's a significantly serious crime type, the victims are getting the support they need and we will continue to work with them during the court process."

The man was refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Thursday. Investigations continue.
