Eels recruit Bryce Cartwright broke his jaw in a training accident and will miss this week’s trial game, and probably the start of the season.
Jake Averillo ruptured a ligament in his elbow and will miss games, while Roosters youngster Billy Smith has had shoulder surgery and will miss up to 10 rounds.
On Friday night during Cronulla’s trial against the Dragons, young halfback Jack A Williams suffered a throat injury.
He was reportedly placed in an induced coma at hospital but is said to be recovering well.
