Elgato is well-known for their quality streaming products, and have revealed a new webcam: FaceCam. This is a part of a new lineup of streaming hardware like the Stream Deck MK2, Wave XLR and so much more. One of the most important things about streaming is making sure your content looks good. If your camera quality is awful, there are many people that are likely to just pass on what you’re doing. It’s important for it all to look good and sound good, and Elgato’s here to help with that.
Elgato’s FaceCam is designed with streaming in mind, with its 1080p resolution and 60FPS. While that’s great, the best part is the built-in flash memory. That way you can recall your camera settings on any of your machines! Taking it on the road for your laptop? Well that won’t be a problem anymore. It also uses USB 3.0 for a smooth, clean image. Another huge bonus is that it does not come with a built-in mic.
I cannot tell you how many times I’ve had to unplug and rearrange, only to find my webcam has decided to activate the built-in mic again. It also lacks auto-focus, so it will look clean at a variety of distances. There will be a Camera Hub as well to help you perfect your settings, so you can see how things look live. This is the first webcam from Elgato, and we’re excited to see what FaceCam can do. At launch, it will cost $199.
This isn’t the only product though. For people who need better audio and own an XLR mic, the Wave XLR is for you. The aim is to improve your microphone interface and digital mixing and is streamlined to help you live-tune your XLR mic. It has a very simple design, with a large dial to adjust pretty much anything. You’ll always know you are muted, thanks to the visible red light, and a mute button on the back. The Clipguard feature will reroute extra noise to a “lower signal path that runs at a lower volume.” Sounds like your audio will just about always sound great! The Wave XLR will launch at $159.
If you need a boom arm for your mic, there’s the Wave Mic Arm and the Wave Mic Arm LP. Each of these differs, so depending on your setup, you may want a different one. The LP stands for “Low Profile”, and goes across your desk, instead of visibly hovering in the shot. The mic stands have a 360-degree arm rotation, ball-mount, a padded clamp (extra stability), and a counter-weight if you need it. Both will run for $99.
Finally, the all-new Stream Deck MK2. With 15 LCD keys that can be customized with icons and actions, it can control a variety of apps and tools. There are now also detachable components to let users completely personalize their stream decks. With a new fixed-angle desktop stand, it stays right where you want it to, or you can remove it to mount/lay the deck flat. If you want to replace the faceplate, that’s also easily done!
With the recently updated Stream Deck 5.0 app and Store featuring plugins, royalty-free music tracks, sound effects, and more, Stream Deck is an extremely versatile, fully customizable control interface for any computer-based workflow. You can do so much with the Stream Deck, so that’s pretty exciting to see a new version of it. It will retail for $149.
There’s so much cool stuff coming from Elgato right now, and we cannot wait to see what it can all do when put together. It’s key to have your stream look and sound good, and with Elgato, that’s certainly within the realm of possibility.
