“So, in one sense, we’ve got an opportunity here to put a very large footprint around whoever was in the area, and it’s that sort of level of investigation and effort that we are capturing now.

“And we will painstakingly go through every vehicle movement. Every bit of technology that we get, any forensic exhibit that we collect.”

Police want anyone who travelled near Carnarvon around the time Cleo went missing to come forward.

“If you’re in that locality, let us know who you are, where you’ve travelled and what you saw,” the Commissioner said.

The Carnarvon community will be invited to write messages of love and support to missing girl Cleo Smith and her family at a community vigil to be held in the town on Sunday night.

The Carnarvon Church of Christ will host the event, and a book of messages will be given to Cleo’s mother Ellie Smith and stepfather Jake Gliddon.

In a Facebook post, the church said the book would provide the community with an opportunity to share their thoughts and wishes.

Cleo, aged only four years old, has been missing since the early hours of October 16.

Police believe she may have been abducted from her tent while her family was camping at the Quobba Blowholes campground, 50 minutes from where they lived in Carnarvon, more than 950 kilometres north of Perth.

On Saturday police visited Cleo’s family home, dusting for fingerprints on the fence and taking photographs in the backyard.

The work is part of an investigation into whether the girl was stalked in the days before she disappeared.

Police are currently offering a $1 million reward for anyone that can provide information that leads to Cleo’s whereabouts.

Detective Superintendent Rod Wilde, the officer in charge of a 100-strong police taskforce looking for Cleo, said while there had been a lot of information coming from the public, he repeated a call for any CCTV and dashcam footage from homes and cars within a 1000-kilometre radius of where she was last seen.

“If people do have some information they’re sitting on and think ‘you know, I’m not sure if it’s relevant or not’, please just call and give us that information and let us judge if it is relevant,” he said.
