Frost was widely criticised after she tearfully declared, in an Instagram post in October, that she had not been vaccinated and used the word “segregation” to describe the treatment of unvaccinated people. Frost said she had “good reasons” for being unvaccinated and had made her choice after discussions with her doctor and psychologist.

“But I feel like it’s getting to a point now in the world where there’s a lot of segregation, a lot of harsh judgment, and it’s taking its toll on my mental health,” Frost said.

Frost’s stance attracted the wrath of high-profile figures including influencer Abbie Chatfield, who has been a vocal advocate of vaccination and was quick to call Frost out.

“So brave to ‘come out’ as putting yourself as an individual above your community because you listen to misinformation. Another reality star bites the dust,” Chatfield posted on Instagram.

Studio 10 host Sarah Harris also said she was concerned that Frost had sent the wrong message.

“I quite like Sam Frost personally she is a really sweet girl and I don’t love the pile on that’s she is copping, but I think it was pretty misguided perhaps of her to put this video out there when so many people have lost livelihoods, family members,” said Harris. “I can understand why some people are feeling frustrated.”

Meanwhile, comedian and radio presenter Em Rusciano tweeted: “Watching Sam Frost tearfully speak about ‘segregation’ because she chooses not to get vaccinated and being called “brave” by her followers is taking me to a level of ‘what the f__k’ I didn’t know was possible.”

Others, including columnist Kerri Sackville writing for this masthead, warned against the social media callouts snowballing into the public shaming of Frost.

Following the backlash, Frost shut down her Instagram account but she returned to the social media site last week and thanked her followers for their support and love.

“I received thousands and thousands of beautiful messages and emails. I appreciate it, more than you’ll ever know,” she said.

“Incredibly grateful for my friends, family and work colleagues who held my hand through the storm, and loved me unconditionally.”

Frost also thanked her “amazing” bosses for helping come up with a “plan that works for everyone.”

Frost’s post follows NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet’s announcement on Monday that unvaccinated people will need to wait until the state hits 95 per cent vaccination rate or December 15 (whichever happens first) before restrictions will ease for them.

“We want to make sure that as we open up, we open up safely, [and] our vaccination rates have been key,” Mr Perrottet said.

“We want a united society, and we believe that by moving that date back to December 15 that will incentivise.”
