One of the most entertaining quarters of the year comes to an end with the Giants up by 12 points.

A total of 14 goals were kicked before quarter-time, and McCarthy finished up by saying to Greene, ‘Anything you can do, I can do better’. Both small forwards head into the first change with three goals each.

The margin swelled to 30 points at one stage as GWS led 6.1.37 to 1.1.7, but the Lions booted five of the last seven goals to get back into the contest.

Suffice to say, defence hasn’t been a strong feature so far, an aspect that probably wouldn’t be too well received by the coaches.

But the Giants have been sensational. They’ve brought the right energy into the game and they lead the disposals 90-79, marks 20-18, tackles 18-9, clearances 13-10, free kicks 7-3, inside 50s 15-12 and scoring shots 9-7.
