Paul Snowden and Gai Waterhouse believe the draws for Magic Millions Classic favourites Empire Of Japan and Platinum Jubilee will allow them to be in the right place on Saturday.
Platinum Jubilee’s gate seven will become barrier four if the emergencies are not required, while the double-figure draw of 11 for $4.60 favourite Empire Of Japan is not as bad as it seems, as he is likely to jump from seven.

“We are very happy with him and the draw will allow him to get into the spot we will want,” Snowden said of Empire Of Japan. “I think having a gate [in the middle] to take up a position is important, the way the track played last weekend.
“The other two [Sovereign Fund (17) and Godfather (20)] didn’t get good gates but they are ready to go as well. We have a nose band on Godfather just to get him to drop his head a bit.”
After the draw, Platinum Jubilee took second spot in the market at $6.50 in front of Sovereign Fund at $7. Last-start Randwick winner Infatuation, which drew eight, is at $9.
Empire Of Japan and Platinum Jubilee won the openers to the Sydney juvenile racing, the Breeders’ Plate and Gimcrack Stakes, but were beaten by Magic Millions rival Fire Lane at Randwick on Christmas Eve.

Peter and Paul Snowden have three runners in the Magic Millions Classic as do Waterhouse and Adrian Bott in Platinum Jubilee, Royal Entrance and Summer Loving.
For Waterhouse, barrier draws are always a matter of accepting what you get.
