Rinky Hijikata and Jason Kubler have taken to the podium to receive their trophies and officially be crowned Australian Open grand slam champions.
Kubler starts by thanking his wildcard teammate.
"I don't know what to say. Rinky and I definitely didn't think this was happening two weeks ago," said Kubler.
"Bit of a pleasant surprise, I should say.
"I've got to thank Rinky. He was actually the reason we teamed up for this tournament.
"I wasn't sure if I was going to play or not and then Rinky asked me and then I decide to play... and then geez, two weeks later we've got this trophy. So big thank you to Rinky."
Kubler heaped praise on the youngster, who forecast a bright future.
Hijikata was a star early in the Australian Open in singles, beating Yannick Hanfmann in the first round.
"Rinky is only 21 and a grand slam champion now, so he's got a great future ahead of him," Kubler added.
"Hopefully he continues to succeed out of singles or doubles, whatever he chooses to play."
