India’s openers are out there and Mitchell Starc has the new ball leading into lunch at 5pm AEDT. Australia’s lead of 88 is whittled down from the very first ball, four leg byes swinging away down the leg side to Rohit Sharma. A couple of singles and a two punched away by both he and Gill, eight runs from the first over.
India: 0-8 Rohit 3*, Gill 1*, Australia lead by 80
And that’s the end of it. Nathan Lyon going for a wide-legged slog sweep and Ashwin’s on target, rattles the woodwork and that’s that.
All out for 197. The last six wickets have fallen for 11 runs in roughly 29 minutes.
Carnage. No other word for it. Umesh Yadav the game-changer and ably supported by Ashwin.
Australia lead by 88 as India prepare for their second innings. It’s a very handy lead, but India will have their tails up considering the visitors were just four down, with almost the same lead, less than an hour ago.
Umesh Yadav has three now. Todd Murphy no chance of keeping that inswinger out. His stumps are splattered all over the turf too. All through the air this Yadav, supreme reverse swing after Australia were able to largely see off the main threats of Jadeja and Ashwin.
Five wickets in five overs for India now and Australia’s lead has barely moved.

Ashwin supremely confident, it’s pitched outside off but hit in line. And then ball-tracking shows it hitting halfway up off stump.

Umesh Yadav with reverse swing and another wicket - his 100th in India according to the host broadcaster. No doubt about it either, absolutely belted Mitchell Starc’s off stump out of the ground.
Three wickets in as many overs brings Nathan Lyon to the crease, and his second ball is a classic French cut that just misses his stumps as well, instead sailing to the boundary.
Yadav has only bowled four of 74 overs, and he’s got 2-11!

One follows two as they say in fifth grade. Cameron Green whacked high on his back leg by Yadav and he’s given out. Decision sent upstairs. Aaaaaaand... oh mama, that is tight. Umpire’s call stays.
By the barest of margins. Just clipping the top of leg stump. If it had been given not out, that would’ve stayed the case too. Green gone for 21 Australia’s now lost 2-2.
Mitchell Starc marches out now and India can smell a collapse.

And after almost 70 minutes of stonewalling this morning, Handscomb’s impressive knock comes to an end after 19 from 98 balls. Ashwin gets one to bite straight after the drinks break and it pops up to Shreyas Iyer at short leg.
A big reach forward by Handscomb there, probably going to hard for a defensive bunt - from the armchair expert - and Iyer did not have to move to snaffle that. Alex Carey now Australia’s last recognised batter. The lead sits at 79 runs.
