Bit of a different style of game to the first two weeks but I guess it might be pleasing to win in a different manner?

Yeah conditions obviously in the first half were difficult, particularly the first quarter. Credit to Richmond, I thought they brought the best version of their pressure which made it a difficult game. It is always pleasing to get the four points. Keep banking them this time of year, they are important.

The team had 13 of the first 14 scoring shots and heading into half time, do you sort of reassure them? What’s the message? To keep their heads-up?

They were up by 3 points in the third.We kept the opposition... You don’t lose too many games when that’s the case but when you don’t kick accurately, you give the opposition hope. It is knowing they were going to come, but then being able to manage it and come again. I was pleased after game, I spoke to the group about Darcy Moore, his spoil on the far side of the ground that changed the momentum of the game. Those moments we want to cherish and reward. They inspire others.

It is important to have days or nights like this, they come at you ugly, the conditions aren’t the best, the goal kicking isn’t working but you find a way to work it out. No-one goes back in time and looks at premiership teams and how they won every game. You have to qualify. That’s all we’re about doing. We have to perform every week. Opposition have started to take things away. It’s a hard game this one. To get away with a win in those conditions and against a quality opposition, it is important.

How much improvement do you think you have left in you as a side? You’ve had a pretty amazing first three weeks? What potential do you think you’re operating in at the moment?

We don’t live in a finished state. We don’t live in a finished state. We live in a growth mindset. I like to think the best days are tomorrow. Why would we put a lid on it? Perfection - It’s a word I don’t like. We have a long way to go. Major parts of our games we’re tinkering with. You have to evolve during the season.

Darcy Cameron you’re a couple of ruck men short?

We’ve had a bad week in the ruck space. Lost Mason Cox for a period of time. Looks like Darcy will be out for a period. Initially, the doc says it is a high-grade MCL. I don’t know how long that is. We’ll wait and see.
