On the same day the Tszyu-Ocampo fight was announced, Charlo posted a rambling rant on social media. Tszyu believed Charlo was “drunk” during that posting, where he appeared in a disorientated state while calling out Canelo Alvarez, as well as during a recent appearance at the clash between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta “Tank” Davis in Las Vegas.

“He was drunk and off his head,” Tszyu said last week.

“While I’m here doing the press conference, at the exact same time he is talking smack and dribble on his Instagram Live, where his PR team is telling him to get off the phone because he is acting like a fool.

“His time is coming and he knows it. So let him enjoy the last little bit, let him enjoy his coming-out party.”

In other boxing news, Australian Andrew Moloney will challenge undefeated Japanese fighter Junto Nakatani for the vacant WBO junior bantamweight title at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Sunday (AEST). That bout, on the undercard of the anticipated Devin Haney-Vasiliy Lomachenko clash, will come just a week after twin brother Jason became a world champion by defeating Vincent Astrolabio to become the WBO bantamweight champion at Stockton Arena, California.

Jason Moloney earned the victory despite suffering a suspected broken hand early in the fight.
