Sydneysiders have shivered through the coldest morning in four years, with temperatures plummeting to 2.5 degrees in the city’s west.
The cool temperatures are a result of a high-pressure system moving over the city before a cooler trough sweeps through the city on Sunday.

The trough will bring gusty and dangerous winds over elevated areas - including the Blue Mountains and Penrith in the morning.
Sydney Observatory Hill recorded 8.7 degrees, 3.3 degrees cooler than the May average.
The lowest temperature recorded at the site was 4.4 degrees in 1962, Weatherzone meteorologist Corine Brown said.
“It was the coldest May minimum temperature in four years for a lot of Sydney – we got 3.5 degrees in Bankstown, which is the coldest temperature in four years. It was 3 degrees in Penrith and 2.5 degrees in Campbelltown – the coldest in three years,” she said.
