Four-year-old mare Misty Dreams finally receives a race setup to her liking and is set to break through for a maiden win at Gosford today.

The mare contests a 4YO&UP Maiden Plate (1200m) and is ready to peak third-up from a soft draw.

The Kim Waugh-trained galloper hasn’t been suited in both of her runs this campaign due to being a victim of wide gates and then getting too far back.

She had to be restrained last start at Wyong seven days ago, and her effort had merit after having too much to do.

To her credit, she ran hidden closing sectionals clocking the meeting’s fastest 400m-200m split and maintained a solid finishing speed to the line to run fourth.

Moreover, that race rated well relative to the day, and the margins throughout confirmed the quality.

She can settle closer with a significant barrier change, has multiple winning ratings for this event and expect her to be hard to hold out.

The early favourite, Mr Kennedy, is coming through strong time races this campaign and was honest in defeat last start at Gosford.

He led at a genuine tempo but couldn’t hold off smart galloper Ozzmosis and battled on well for second.
