It followed criticism from RSL NSW president Mick Bainbridge who said his organisation had not been consulted and that a rock concert would intrude on a day for “respect and quiet contemplation”.

“Anzac Day is a day to think of the sacrifices made by the approximately 120,000 people from NSW who served overseas during World War I, as well as all who have served since,” Bainbridge said.

The RSL had claimed that music from the concert would interfere with Anzac Day celebrations in the city, including the traditional march which is planned to conclude at 12.30pm.

McManus disputed that there would be a clash, saying: “We weren’t starting our amplified music until one o’clock to make sure that, again, we didn’t disrespect anyone.”

At the new venue, gates will open at 11.30am and the line-up will perform across two stages.

“We’ve put together a brilliant line-up of iconic rock’n’roll acts that is set to deliver an amazing day of music, no matter what the location,” McManus said.

Apex Entertainment had committed to donating $10 for each ticket sold to two veterans’ charities, Wounded Heroes Australia and Legacy, totalling up to $200,000.

However, it has since been confirmed that Legacy has cut ties with the event.

All tickets already purchased for Pandemonium Sydney would be valid at the new venue, organisers said.
