Well, after a slow start, Fremantle absolutely put Brisbane to the sword to claim a comprehensive 23-point win at Optus Stadium, despite being hit hard with injuries.
They lost Karl Worner (concussion), Oscar McDonald (knee) and Brennan Cox (knee).
Caleb Serong finished the evening with a mammoth 46 possessions, a club record, and 21 of those contested, and 10 clearances. He was humble after the siren, telling Fox Footy: “We played our footy tonight, which was pleasing… We weren’t doing much wrong”.

And for the flag fancies in Brisbane, last year’s grand finalists, they have started their 2024 campaign with back-to-back losses. Not what many, if any, expected.
