Urban environments are home to millions of people across the UK. They can be vibrant and attractive areas in which to live, work and socialise, but they can also suffer decline and neglect, which makes them unappealing places where eventually few or no people choose to live or otherwise spend time.
This film is about improving urban environments and managing change so that they continue to be places and precincts where people want to be.It features interviews with academics Steve Mussen and Rob Potter from the University of Reading, and national policy manager for planning and design for English Partnerships, Kevin McGeough, on topics such as inner city decline, urban regeneration and urbanization in the developing world.
It makes an excellent resource for senior level students of geography, providing insightful and interesting reflections on a range of areas relating to the amenity of Britain's urban environments.
