Abalone fishers are urged to take care ahead of tomorrow's final abalone fishing day of the 2017 season.
"Keep an eye on the weather and the ocean and wear appropriate clothing including protective footwear and a wetsuit or light clothing that won't become too heavy when wet," the Department of Fisheries warned.
The future of shellfish farming
Could this be the future of shellfish farming? It's happening in Albany
Abalone fishing is extremely popular. At the beginning of this season, back in November last year, 10,000 people were expected to descend onto Trigg Beach alone for the first Sunday of licensed fishing.
Since 2012 three people have died while abalone fishing and in the past three years Surf Life Saving WA has rescued 42 fishers.
Sunday is the last day of the season with licence holders entitled to fish for abalone between 7am and 8am in the Perth metro area.
"We urge fishers to be aware of the size and bag limits," Fisheries said.

"Attach your measuring gauge to your wrist rather than hanging it around your neck and carry your catch in the loose-weave net bag that won't become a dragging weight."
Fisheries and marine officers will be patrolling on Sunday to make sure fishers stick to the bag and size limits and the 7-8am fishing window.
