Canberra's Scottie Brydon is the inaugural world champion after winning the first ever running of the Para trap shoots championships in Italy on the weekend.

Brydon took out the PT1 title in Lonato on Saturday, adding his world crown to go with his first place at the World Cup event in France last month and a second in the United Arab Emirates World Cup in March.

The 32-year-old scored 36 out of a possible 50 to finish five clear of runner-up Oreste Lai from Italy. Cyprus' Neofytos Nikolaou was third.

Brydon began shooting competitively in 2015 after he became a quadriplegic from a motorcycle accident in 2011.
