Greater Western Sydney forward/ruck Rory Lobb has nominated Fremantle as his club of choice.

Lobb, a West Australian, had met with West Coast, but has chosen the Dockers. They have the greater scope in their salary cap to bring in Lobb, who is contracted for 2019 on a significant amount.

It will be up to the Giants and Fremantle to come to terms on a trade, with the Dockers also considering a trade for Melbourne key forward Jesse Hogan, in what would be a trade that would follow Lachie Neale's exit to the Brisbane Lions.

The decision by Andrew Gaff to stick with West Coast, rather than crossing to North Melbourne, also meant that the Eagles had less room in their salary cap for Lobb. West Coast have made Geelong's Tim Kelly, who wants to come home, a priority in this trade period.

The Lions have offered their first pick, No.5, for Neale. If the Dockers trade Neale to the Lions, as expected, this would assist them in doing a deal for Hogan and potentially Lobb if they can do appropiate pick swaps.

Lobb's exit will help GWS' salary cap issues, which are expected to see the Giants trade midfielder Dylan Shiel to a Melbourne club. Hawthorn, Essendon, Carlton and St Kilda have been vying for Shiel's services.
