South Australian state league clubs want the AFL's mid-season draft scrapped, saying it compromises their competition.

Five SANFL players were taken in Monday night's AFL draft, with their SA clubs to get no compensation.

"We will continue to stand firm in our opposition to a mid-season draft," SANFL chief executive officer Jake Parkinson said on Tuesday.

"The AFL's decision, made contrary to feedback provided by the SANFL and other state leagues ... will have a significantly detrimental impact on SANFL clubs who work hard to develop their players and teams lists and position themselves for success.
