John Sutton may shift to five-eighth to partner Adam Reynolds in the halves, with one of Dean Britt or Bailey Sironen to fill his spot on the edge.

The loss of Walker and Cook, in particular, will hinder Souths as they try to keep the momentum built through the first half of the season.

The pair have been one of the NRL's most dangerous duos, leading the Rabbitohs' attack, but George Burgess said their replacements are more than capable of doing the job required.

"You can’t really replace them. You just have to all band together and work together as a team to get that win, I suppose and to fill those gaps," Burgess said.

"I don’t think any one of us can do it on our own. We have to do it as a team."

Burgess' brother Tom, who recently re-signed with Souths, was on the same page.

"That is why they work every day, every week for. It’s good for them to see them get a shot," he said.

"They’re all first team players that have been in and around training all pre-season. We are familiar with them all. We’re a team."
