What challenges have you faced during the pandemic?

An openness to being agile and adaptive was critical during this time. Our teachers and support staff were marvellous with supporting our students and families with learning and pastoral care. Maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders was always a challenge, but our College managed it appropriately.

How transferable are your skills?

The many skills that are acquired in teaching are most transferable. I am also a trained media broadcaster and the skills I attained in that domain easily benefit me in my ongoing teaching and leadership role.

What advice do you have for people wanting to get into teaching?

Go for it. Remember to always be a learner and let your passion and enthusiasm shine.

What skills and personal skills do people need?

It is important to be yourself. Kids want to know their teachers. Being highly relational, committed and supportive to the learning growth of your students is essential. Be open to new ideas and how learning can be transformative for the benefit of our learners.
