A police officer has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in the head in Sydney’s CBD.

A 33-year-old man was arrested over the attack and taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for assessment after sustaining unidentified injuries.

NSW Ambulance treated the police officer on the scene. He suffered non-life threatening injuries and is being treated at St Vincent’s Hospital in Darlinghurst.

Police say an operation is still under way on Elizabeth St, but there is no continuing threat to the public.
