Progressive Capitalist filly 3. Girl Mania looks suitably placed here resuming from an ideal trailing draw. Trialled strongly at this track only eight days ago, and a proven fresh country stable has brought her back with the blinkers off. Always shown talent, and this looms as the first step on a bright late spring and summer prep.
Dangers: Keep safe Godolphin filly 12. Ultra who got home OK first-up behind the smart Field Wiri who goes around earlier in the meeting. Drops in weight from a better draw, and extra 200m is an obvious bonus. Improving filly 7. Deep Romance is on the next line after a solid debut at this track; while local colt 4. Critical Time debuts off three trial wins more than five months apart; and the Shalaa stock is really starting to make its mark in sprint races.
How to play it: Girl Mania to win. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 5 CLASS 1 HCP (1300m)

Promising Deep Field three-year-old 6. Midori Beauty can repeat the dose from his debut win at Gosford nearly three weeks back when he motored home from near last. Will again be ridden quiet, and the little extra trip and much longer straight only add to his claim.
Dangers: Got plenty of time for improving three-year-old 4. The Bullring, who can improve again third-up on the bigger circuit. Progressive mare 5. Yumi tracked the speed before sweeping home for an impressive second-up country maiden win, and looks well capable of stepping up here from the fence draw; while 2. Spats Pav Bowie is best of the rest after defying a betting drift to win his maiden at Goulburn.
How to play it: Midori Beauty to win. Odds and Evens: Evens

Race 6 3YO MAIDEN PLATE (1300m)

Very tricky maiden at set weights. Keen on lightly raced metro filly 12. Prasiolite resuming off an 18-week spell with a key gear change. Has tactical speed, and was beaten less than four lengths behind subsequent Golden Rose winner In The Congo back in May. Has trialled quietly.
Dangers: There were plenty of excuses for well-bred metro three-year-old 9. Yagoona after finishing down the track in a Warwick Farm maiden at his second start. Will certainly find this easier with winkers off, but wouldn’t be diving into any shortish price drawn off the track. Improving three-year-old 7. Uncaged is also drawn wide second-up after dropping out in a stronger maiden on that same day at the Farm. Watch the betting on I Am Invincible filly and stablemate to the top selection 10. Fearnought who debuts behind two quiet trials; while both 6. Toesonthenose debuting in blinkers; and ex-Victorian 1. Modern Legend first-up for a new stable behind two trials; both go in trifectas and first fours.
How to play it: Prasiolite to win and first four 9,12/7,9,10,12/1,6,7,9,10,12/1,6,7,9,10,12. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 7 BENCHMARK 64 HCP (1600m)

Moderate sprint depth-wise, and hard to make a case for anything beating promising Exceed And Excel three-year-old 4. Depiction, who drops back significantly in class third-up. Destroyed his maiden opposition first-up at Newcastle before fighting on big to only miss by a half head behind an in-form galloper in much tougher metro grade. Being aimed at bigger targets and should win for fun.
Dangers: Improving four-year-old 7. Lucky To Win has been solid through the line in his last couple, and can add some spice into the quinella; while tough Coffs five-year-old 2. Baileys arrives third-up with solid benchmark form in and around the North Coast, but the handicapper hasn’t missed him with 61kg.
How to play it: Depiction to win and quinella 4 and 7. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 8 BENCHMARK 64 HCP (1800m)

Always been in the corner of talented and progressive Canberra mare 5. Kermatin who has taken some big steps this prep culminating in a dominant BM58 win at Albury charging home from well off the speed. Had made up a stack of ground prior in a good Highway form race, and she should relish the extra trip and long run home at this track.
Dangers: Another one on the improve, four-year-old 3. Yulong Status returns for his first start in NSW behind some handy closing runs in Victoria. Draws the inside gate after a seven-week freshen-up, and kept ticking over via a recent quiet trial. Gap to the rest headed by 7. Rodrick’s Secret, who is hard fit and comes off a runaway BM58 country win, while keeping safe lightly raced metro four-year-old 8. Za Ceibas who will appreciate the longer trip third-up, and was scratched from the opener to run in this.
How to play it: Kermatin to win and quinella 3 and 5. Odds and Evens: Split
